Most children find it difficult to understand new concepts if they are introduced to the same directly in abstract form using mathematical symbols and numbers.

However, if the same concept is introduced to children using concrete objects like props and games in context of real world situations, they find it easier to understand.

Advanced research and studies have also proven that most of the human being are visual learners.

At S.A.M, we follow the process of physically illustrating mathematical concepts before moving to practical explanation and finally to the abstract representation of mathematics. We call this the CPA Approach (Concrete Picture and Abstract Approach) to Mathematics.

The CPA approach enable children to gradually transition from visualising what they see in concrete form, to visualizing in their mind what they see in abstract form. Ability of the child to visualize a problem in their mind, represents their conceptual clarity on the topic and it is one of the most important element in making a child intelligent.
